Organiser Sarah McAllister says: “We are very excited about launching the Reading Contemporary Art Fair, our events have always been about bringing exciting new art to the widest possible audience. We present our exhibitors in a relaxed but professional setting, giving them the best platform to showcase their work while allowing them to talk about their art directly with the public – something few other art shows do. Our aim is to de-mystify the art world and make it truly accessible to everyone.”
The art on display will encompass a wide range of media, from in excess of 80 artists, printmakers, sculptors, ceramicists and galleries, who origins are in the UK and Europe as well as aspiring local artists. Art can be purchased from as little as £40 to upwards of £4000.
As well as the opportunity to view and purchase fine examples of contemporary art, Reading’s art group, “Jelly”, are running workshops and activities: all are welcome to join in. A café and wine tasting will add to the ambiance of the Fair.
The inaugural Reading Contemporary Art Fair is to be officially opened by Sir John Madejski OBE DL. The official media sponsor for this event is the Reading Chronicle and the Princes Trust will be the recipient of any funds raised.
